Chapter 17

Callie

“This is nice,” I comment, leaning against Reece’s chest, sitting between his legs with his arms wrapped around my stomach. After the eye opening mini golf game, Reece brought me here so we’d bought a picnic from the deli across the road and settled under this tree.

This is the version of Reece I fell for back in Alabama; the sexy charming guy who acts like he cares. Not the ass from the other week. Not that I have any complaints, but when he’s not trying to get into my panties, I fall a little bit more. Although he’d deny it, he’s a sweet guy who just needs to be kept on the straight and narrow instead of on his bad boy ass.

Hearing shouting, I focus back on the group of teens playing football not too far from us, which Reece has been engrossed in for the past ten minutes.

If I wasn’t so comfortable against him, I’d suggest he go join them, which I know he wants. But I’m being selfish and want to stay wrapped in his arms watching the world go by.

“You asleep?” Reece whispers, obviously not wanting to wake me up if I am. I smile, but stay silent because I’m interested in what he’ll do or say next. He kisses my head as he moves one of his hands up and starts to stroke my hair all the while he keeps his lips pressed against the top of my head. “You frighten the life out of me,” he mumbles. “But you’re mine because it would kill me to see you with anyone else…I just hope like hell I don’t screw it up.” He kisses me again, still keeping his lips against the top of my head.

I have tears in my eyes listening to him. My big badass guy frightened of little me. My heart flutters as a tear escapes. I reach up to swipe at it and Reece’s smoothing touch to my hair stops.

“How long have you been awake?”

“Um. I wasn’t asleep.”

I turn in his arms and rest my chin on his chest while making eye contact with him. “If I’m your girl,” I smile, “does that mean you’re my guy?” My smile turns into a grin. “And does that mean I can punch anyone who thinks you’re free.”

He starts laughing, which is what I’d hoped when I saw panic flicker across his eyes. I sit straddling him, and wiggle around trying to get comfortable. The mood suddenly changes as well as the growing bulge beneath me. So I wiggle some more.

Grabbing my hips, he holds me still. “I’m going to end up having a very long cold shower when I get home after the way you’ve been writhing around on my dick all day.”

“Hmm. If you’re going to be having a cold shower, then we might as well get hot and bothered.”

I wrap my arms around his neck and leaning in, nibble his ear. He catches his breath pushing me down firmly on top of his arousal.
